ALBANY — As Dan Brown’s latest novel continued to make its mark on bestseller lists across the country, the future of a prominent location from “The Da Vinci Code” was discussed in the city Saturday. Lady Helen St. Clair-Erskine, the Countess of Rosslyn, visited the Albany Institute of History and Art to present a guest lecture entitled “Rosslyn Chapel: Fact and Fiction,” which discussed the history and myths surrounding one of Scotland’s most well-known landmarks. Rosslyn Chapel was used as key setting in “Da Vinci” due to the legend that the mythical Holy Grail may be hidden in a secret vault underneath the chapel among the rumored treasure of the Knights Templar. After giving a brief history of the chapel, St. Clair-Erskine explained that the chapel is currently in need of conservation work in order to preserve a medieval masterpiece which has stood for centuries after it was founded by Sr. William St. Clair in 1446.
