- Janine Marie Raymundo Tugonon (Tagalog: [dʒɐˈnin tʊˈgɔnɔn]; born Octo) is a Filipino actress, TV host, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2012.
A long-standing and prestigious competition, Miss Universe has been a platform for women to share their stories and make an impact worldwide.
Since 1952, the Miss Universe organization has invited women from around the world to compete in a display of beauty, brains, and heart. Filipinos, who are avid pageant enthusiasts, have participated in the competition in more ways than one. In 2023 alone, Filipino designers Rian Fernandez, Larry Espinosa, Mark Bumgarner, Carla Fuentes, Furne One, Louis Pangilinan, and Boogie Musni’s gowns were worn by several Miss Universe representatives. All of the contestants also walked in pageant shoes designed by Filipino designer Jojo Bragais.
