DISCOGRAPHY - SEMYON BYCHKOV

Semyon Mayevich Bychkov (Russian: Семён Маевич Бычков, IPA: [sʲɪˈmʲɵn ˈma(j)ɪvʲɪdʑ bɨtɕˈkof]; born November 30, ) is a Soviet-born American conductor.

“The two orchestral works were truly the highlights of both concerts. The Czech orchestra lives this music with an infectious intensity. From the very first bar of the overture, it is palpable to what extent there is an inner tension, a special involvement and complicity. Everything adds to it. To begin with, the sound: full, round, with a timbre and a very special personality, a colour that is a seal of identity. It is one of the few orchestras whose sound has a different character, one that it has had for a long time, and that has not become a “standard sound”, as happens with many ensembles today, but retains that individual, special character. The string section is a marvel of beauty of sound, filling and colouring, and the cello section is truly exquisite. The woodwind is remarkable and the brass, especially trombones and trumpets, of great presence and precision, but never strident.” Scherzo, 15 October 2023
